GTA 6 Character Guide: Protagonists, Leaks & Latest Info
This page serves as a complete guide to everything we know about GTA 6 characters, covering confirmed details, leaks, and rumors about the game’s protagonists.
We’ll continuously update this guide with the latest information as more characters are revealed, providing a full list of protagonists, antagonists, allies, strangers, and other key figures in GTA 6.
Who Are the Main Protagonists in GTA 6?
For GTA 6, Rockstar Games is continuing the multi-character gameplay approach first introduced in Grand Theft Auto V.
This time, the game features two main protagonists: Jason and Lucia, the latter making history as the first playable female lead in a modern GTA title. While their last names remain unknown, Lucia is a Latina woman, and leaked footage suggests she and Jason share a romantic relationship, seemingly inspired by the infamous Bonnie and Clyde.
Much like GTA V, GTA 6 will incorporate a character-switching mechanic, allowing players to seamlessly switch between Jason and Lucia by pressing “Down” on the D-Pad.

Jason |
So far, Grand Theft Auto VI is confirmed to feature two main protagonists: Jason, a Caucasian male, and Lucia, a Latina female. Their last names have yet to be revealed, but both appear to be in their late 20s or early 30s and share a romantic relationship. Early speculation suggested a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired storyline, which is supported by scenes from the first trailer showing them working together on various heists.
Like Grand Theft Auto V, GTA 6 is expected to include a character-switching mechanic, allowing players to seamlessly switch between Jason and Lucia during gameplay.
Who Else is in GTA 6? Confirmed Characters So Far

She is an employee of the Leonida Department of Corrections, though it’s unclear whether she will continue to have a major influence on Lucia’s life after her release. Notably, she is the first voice heard in GTA VI, speaking at the very start of the debut trailer. |
Gold Chain Guy |
Seen in Trailer 1, this character sports tattoos and gold chains and is shown shaking hands with another heavily tattooed man. He may be “Kai,” a name that appeared in leaked footage, suggesting he could be a playable character. Alternatively, he might be an important figure in the story, possibly a high-ranking member of a gang operating in Leonida. |
Nightclub DJ |
Featured in the first trailer, she is shown bringing energy to the dance floor. Whether she will have a major role in the game remains uncertain. |
“Dad Bod Squad” Guy |
Appearing in the social media segment of the first trailer, he is seen on a boat, surrounded by a group of women in bikinis. |
Car Twerk Girl |
Seen in Trailer 1, this character is dancing on top of a car while someone inside captures the moment, seemingly for social media content. |
Shanese |
Found in the developer menus from the leaked footage, this non-playable character may be a friend of Lucia. She could be one of the women dancing at the car meet in Trailer 1 and seems to have a presence on social media. |

Friends & Contacts
Like previous Grand Theft Auto games, GTA VI will feature a diverse mix of allies, contacts, and adversaries surrounding the protagonists. This new installment is expected to introduce a similarly varied cast. Some of the characters identified so far are listed above.
Gangs
Players can expect to encounter various gangs in the game, offering opportunities to build alliances and spark rivalries. For more details, visit our GTA VI Gangs section.
Returning Characters
At this time, there is no indication that characters from previous GTA games will make a return. However, Jay Norris, the former LifeInvader CEO from GTA V, is mentioned in some dialogue. Since GTA VI is set in Vice City, there is a possibility that familiar faces from the original game, such as Kent Paul, originally voiced by Danny Dyer, could appear. Unfortunately, the return of Tommy Vercetti seems unlikely due to the passing of his voice actor, Ray Liotta, in 2022.
Interestingly, leaked footage features a building labeled “Navaro Shipping Terminal,” located south of the Rockridge Neighborhood Service Center. This could be a reference to Ray Navarro, a minor character from GTA V who worked for Devon Weston, though his name was spelled with a single “R” in the in-game website.
